An opportunity to get involved and volunteer with the Otanewainuku Kiwi Trust to protect kiwi and other animals and plants.
The guest speaker will be Hans Pendergast who is currently a Trustee of the Otanewainuku Kiwi Trust and was formerly Chair of the Trust from 2016 - 2018. His father was a Trustee when it was founded in 2003. Hans will provide a general overview of theTrust's conservation efforts to protect and restorethe Ōtanewainuku conservation area, which is a native forest that spreads from behind Te Puke to Oropi.
He will discuss the incredible dedication of many volunteers and the work they do to protect the forest, kiwi, kōkako, and everything else from pests.
