COVID-19 Updates

All Facilities Now Open Under Alert Level 2
 
Under Alert Level 2 public venues and programmes can re-open with strict health and safety practices in place, including contact tracing to record who is coming into our venues and when.

All facilities are now open with a few programme and activity changes:

  • Mount Hot Pools are operating in Level 2 from 7am to 9.30pm Mon to Sat, 8am to 9.30pm Sun & Public Holidays
  • No Aqua Mum classes at Baywave or Mount Hot Pools
  • No waves at Baywave as it may affect physical distancing
  • Changes to Aqua Aerobics classes, see www.taurangapools.co.nz for each facilities timetable
  • Tumble Time to begin from June 2, see www.baykids.co.nz for dates and times
  • BayActive Sports Leagues to begin from June 2, see www.bayactive.co.nz for details
  • Kitchen unavailable at Community Centres & Halls in Level 2
  • For the long weekend the Poolside Café at Baywave and coffee cart at Mount Hot Pools won’t be operating
  • For the long weekend the hydro slide at Baywave will not be operating

Please note: From May 30 there will be no more designated session times at our aquatic facilities
 
Increased Hygiene Regime
 
Before re-opening each facility, a thorough clean will be performed, followed by the application of an anti-microbial fog throughout the premises to provide long-lasting protection. This sterilising product remains active on all surfaces for up to 3 months.
 
Once open, facilities will undergo regular commercial cleans. High-touch point areas will be disinfected throughout the day and/or between use by staff, e.g. door handles, benches, shared equipment. In family changing rooms anti-bacterial wipes will be provided for use on surfaces before and after changing.
 
We encourage visitors to any of our aquatic sites to consider how they can arrive and depart without necessarily using changing facilities to help minimise risks in these areas.
 
Hand sanitiser stations have been set up at the entrance of all Bay Venues’ facilities and we encourage customers and staff to use this before entering.

Aquatic facilities also benefit from the level of chlorine used in the water treatment.

You can also help reduce the risk by following personal hygiene best practice:
  • Wash your hands with soap and water often (for at least 20 seconds). Then dry thoroughly.
  • Cough or sneeze into your elbow or by covering your mouth and nose with tissues.
  • Don’t touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean
  • Put used tissues in the bin or a bag immediately
  • Stay home if you feel unwell
 
Physical Distancing Protocols
 
In all our facilities you will find markings on the floor in areas where congregation occurs (e.g. reception, changing rooms etc) to indicate 1 metre spacing. In wet areas the markings may appear on benches and/or on the wall. We will be closely monitoring the number of visitors to our venues to ensure that 1 metre distancing is possible throughout.
 
Bay Venues is seeking further clarification at this point around the maximise number for group bookings in our facilities. We will liaise directly with customers and user groups initially to work this through on a case-by-case basis.
 
Sneeze guards have been installed at all reception areas where customers and staff come into close contact for a prolonged period. We also encourage customers to use payWave of Eftpos instead of cash.
 
Capacity Limits

As per the amended legislation for COVID-19 Alert Level 2, event facilities such as stadiums, concert venues and conference venues, as well as cafes, and contact sport must continue to adhere to the maximum capacity limit of 100 customers in any one defined space at any one time. Multiple groups of 100 people can occupy the same venue as long as the groups always remain separated.
 
Contact Tracing System
 
We are required to record the contact details of everyone (staff, contractors, customers) who walk through our doors so that we can provide these to the Ministry of Health should they require them.
 
You will need to bring your phone when you visit a Bay Venues facility. There will be a unique QR Code on display at the entrance that can be scanned with your phone’s camera, automatically taking you to a website to enter your name, phone number and email address to ‘check-in’ to the venue (if the venue is at capacity you may need to wait to check-in).
 
If you are unable to scan the QR Code, you can manually enter the website address or Bay Venues staff will be available to record your entry manually (please note this may take longer). Upon existing the venue, you will also be required to scan the QR Code to ‘check-out’.

Contacts will only be held for contact tracing purposes. Following the Government guidelines your details will be only kept for two months, after this period they will be deleted. 

Governments new Tracing App & Bay Venues
The Governments new Tracing App does not remove the requirement for Bay Venues to contact trace facilities visitors. This may change in future, but for now we ask that visitors still check-in to our facilities using the QR Code provided. Our contact tracing system also allows us to monitor the number of visitors in our venue at one time; to ensure we keep within our capacity limits (as outlined above).

Memberships

Clubfit
Clubfit Memberships will automatically re-start upon the re-opening of each facility (see table above for opening dates). If you would like to cancel or suspend your membership further, please email:​​​clubfit.reception@bayvenues.co.nz

Aquatic Memberships
For now, all aquatic memberships will remain suspended. If you would like to access the available aquatic facilities, please send an email to bayswim@bayvenues.co.nz to reactivate your card. Members must produce their card on entry. 

Visit Pass Holders
Any visit passes that have expired during Alert Level 3 & 4 will be automatically extended so you will still get full use out of your pass.

BaySwim

BaySwim memberships were cancelled when our facilities closed. We are now taking bookings for lessons that start Monday 18 May at Baywave and Greerton. Email bayswim@bayvenues.co.nz to discuss availability.
