Children are inherently optimists and at Christmas time the hope is greater. The
Make a Child Smile campaign (proudly supported by Mount Lions, Tauranga City
Libraries & Bay Venues) is in its seventh year. Tauranga City Library Art Director,
Daniel Peterson designs the posters in mid November to promote the concept and to
elevate the spirit of humanity; in giving. It is comforting for a child to feel that
someone, somewhere cares about them.
This year's Make a Child Smile campaign has generated a lot of gifts. On the afternoon of December 17 a volunteer team will be wrapping presents at the Arataki Community Centre. Gifts will be given out on the same night, at a free dinner held at the Centre.
A tremendous thank you to the community for their generosity in helping to make a
child smile this Christmas. The power of giving makes an impact and the team at
Trustpower have behind the scenes contributed enormously. Beyond that: three
remarkable ladies from Trustpower have set the trend and in the last two years have
collected gifts throughout the year, generating an abundance of gifts. The gift each
child receives sparks the magic of giving and warms the hearts of many children.
End.
