Cyclone Vaianu – Venue Closures

Due to the expected impacts of Cyclone Vaianu, all Bay Venues facilities will be closed this Sunday. Our venues will re‑open from 8:00am Monday, subject to safety checks.

This precautionary decision has been made based on advice from MetService, Civil Defence, and Tauranga City Council (who are also closing council public-facing facilities), and reflects our commitment to the safety of our customers, staff, and wider community. Providing early clarity also allows people time to adjust their plans.

What this means

  • All Bay Venues facilities and associated services (see full list below) will be closed on Sunday 12 April 2026

  • Venues will re‑open from 8:00am on Monday, 13 April, allowing our teams to check any cyclone‑related impacts in and around our venues during daylight hours

  • Pooch in the Pool at Memorial Pool has also been postponed to Saturday 18 April

  • 8am AquaFit class at Baywave will start at 8.15am on Monday 13 April

  • Customers with affected bookings, programmes, or events will be contacted directly to arrange refunds or postponement options where relevant
